Isle of Wight

Our Service

  • A day trip to the Isle of Wight by coach and ferry from Southampton typically includes a comfortable coach journey to the port, followed by a ferry crossing across the Solent. Once on the island, coach tours often visit popular sights such as The Needles, a landmark of chalk stacks, and the famous coloured sands of Alum Bay. Some itineraries may also include stops at charming seaside towns like Shanklin or Sandown, known for their beaches and traditional piers. These tours offer a stress-free way to see the island's highlights.

  • The Journey:

    • Ferry Crossing: The trip begins with a ferry ride from Southampton to the Isle of Wight, often to East Cowes. The journey across the Solent offers scenic views. The main ferry operator for this route is Red Funnel.

    On the Isle of Wight:

    • The Needles: This is a major highlight for most coach tours. The Needles are three distinctive chalk stacks jutting out of the sea. The nearby Alum Bay is famous for its multicolored sand cliffs. At The Needles Landmark Attraction, you can often take a chairlift down to the beach for a closer look or enjoy a boat trip for an up-close view of the rocks and lighthouse.

    • Seaside Towns: Many tours include a stop at popular seaside resorts such as Shanklin or Sandown. These towns are known for their sandy beaches, piers, and charming promenades. Shanklin, in particular, is noted for its picturesque streets with thatched cottages and a beautiful chine (a deep, narrow gorge with a stream running through it).

    • Isle of Wight Pearl: Some itineraries include a visit to the Isle of Wight Pearl, a renowned destination for pearl jewelry.

    • Historic Sites: Depending on the tour, you might have the opportunity to visit historic sites like Osborne House, Queen Victoria's former summer residence, or Carisbrooke Castle, a former royal prison.

    • Godshill: This is a picturesque village known for its medieval church, thatched cottages, and tearooms.

    • Isle of Wight Steam Railway: A journey on a restored vintage steam railway is a popular attraction for those who enjoy heritage travel.
